A Brief look into 2025 Fashion Predictions!

This is me, If you care.
Growing up, my fashion style was all over the place. I didn’t know what top suits what pants, what shoes you should wear, don’t even ask me about jewelry. Y’all worst outfits were probably my best at the time. But we learn and grow, yet growing to my style was long and exhausting. I still cringe to this day whenever I see my outfit choices. A neon green polkadot dress? at the restaurant? Really?
I don’t like to corner myself into an aesthetic, because why? I like to search for some keywords of fit inspirations every now and then, But i don’t need to force myself to only wear what fits the criteria of a certain category. I like floral dresses, doesn’t mean I have to describe my style as Coquette or Whimsy. I like the Victorian era of dressing, doesn’t mean I have to wear my clothes like I’m living in World War II. You get the point.
If you ask me, what I enjoy wearing currently. I love flowy long dresses, I think they’re chic. Satin and Silk are my best friends. I also enjoy feeling like a princess, because I grew up watching Barbie movies, So a little collection of floral princess dresses won’t hurt. I love Mary Jane shoes very much, a little too much, I think. I love vintage watches, I love both gold and silver jewelry, I love stacking up earrings, I love huge bows on the back of my head, I love soft colours, especially pink. I believe the girlies who grew up hating pink to be different from other girlies, ended up being the ones who love pink the most.
I also enjoy vintage clothing, especially thrift finds. I love guessing what each clothing or fabric has gone through, or who was wearing it. I love gothic punk and steampunk fashion, and it’s mostly influenced by Arcane and Game of Thrones. Also, Vivienne Westwood is the G.O.A.T (RIP my queen).
You may notice that some of my fashion preferences come from what I watched as a kid. Barbie movies, Arcane, Little Women, Game of Thrones, etc. Yeah, that’s just how I am, can't help it. I don’t know how I can explain it, but I get easily influenced.
Some of my favorite high fashion brands are Miss Sohee, Clio Peppiatt, Mirror Palais, Cult Gaia, Blumarine, Coperni, Miu Miu, Alaia, Oscar De La Renta, Vivienne Westwood, Ziwu Artemis (not a fashion house, but pricey), Robert Wun, Ralph Lauren, and many more. Of course, I can't afford all of them, so I bought the dupes of what I love in Shopee! Money isn’t everything, but gosh it would help lots, wouldn't it?
Of course, I also love some of the local brands here in my country. Saroong Atelier, Toko Didiyo, Everything Small, Artkea House, Sae Design, Playwithpattero, Auctus, Nappa Milano, etc.
A controversial take
Alright, so I think fashion brands these days are taking it too mild. Because why do I see the same design everywhere? Like I don't need to see the same coat over in the store next door just in different colours. I need variance, I need personality, a pop of colour, a break from symmetry, a break from the order.
Also, Well-known fashion houses are going downhill. Where are the flowers, Dior? Why are you wearing coats at your fashion week runways? Why’s the colour so sad and monochrome? Why do your red carpets suck, Chanel? (except Taylor Russell’s at Venice Film Festival 2024) Where is your signature style? Why’s it missing?
I’m interested though, of where Gucci’s about to head after Alessandro Michele’s Departure, I hope for the best. Sabato De Sarno, You better awe us all. This take is recorded in January of 2025, So don't blame me for any misinformation.
But besides the point of High fashion houses, I’m talking about the general. I’m sick of seeing the same boring cut of dresses or tops everywhere in local shops. Why are we not inventing a new thing? Instead of repeating what people have been making since how long it’s been. (please, i need them)
Take a look into 2025 Fashion Week!
